Throwing & Hand-building Workshop

£50 Saturdays 10.00am - 1.00pm

On this course you will learn the basics of throwing and hand-building. On the day you will be split into two groups, and then you will alternate between learning throwing and handbuilding. For throwing, you will learn the basics of how to make a cylinder. You’ll learn beginner throwing techniques, such as centering and shaping. For handbuilding, you will learn how to make a pinch pot, and then learn coiling and shaping techniques to create a larger pot. Students usually choose to make either mugs, jugs, vases, or gravy boats.

Glaze Options

There are 2 options

  • We will glaze all pots you’ve made in a transparent glaze that is food safe and comes out in a cream colour.

  • Alternatively, you can come back and book onto the Self Directed Glaze Session and use our array of beautiful glazes to personalise your pieces. A team member will be on hand to teach and support you. Make sure you book at least 4 weeks after your initial course date, to give time for your creation to dry and be bisque fired prior to your glazing.
