Throwing & Hand-building Workshop
£50 Saturdays 10.00am - 1.00pm
On this course you will learn the basics of throwing and hand-building. On the day you will be split into two groups, and then you will alternate between learning throwing and handbuilding. For throwing, you will learn the basics of how to make a cylinder. You’ll learn beginner throwing techniques, such as centering and shaping. For handbuilding, you will learn how to make a pinch pot, and then learn coiling and shaping techniques to create a larger pot. Students usually choose to make either mugs, jugs, vases, or gravy boats.
Glaze Options
There are 2 options
We will glaze all pots you’ve made in a transparent glaze that is food safe and comes out in a cream colour.
Alternatively, you can come back and book onto the Self Directed Glaze Session and use our array of beautiful glazes to personalise your pieces. A team member will be on hand to teach and support you. Make sure you book at least 4 weeks after your initial course date, to give time for your creation to dry and be bisque fired prior to your glazing.
The studio can be chilly during the winter months so make sure you wear warm clothes, and very importantly have trimmed nails.
Collections, Cancellations and Refunds:
You can come collect your pots after 6 weeks; collections are every Wednesday 4-8pm. Give us an email if you can’t make it during that time. Please note, we only hold on to your pots 3 months maximum after the 6 week period.
We can also arrange for your pots to be posted to you for a fee starting at £6.50. Please email us with your address, photo of your pot and the date and name of the course you attended.
We have a 14 day cancellation period - we do not do refunds or re-schedule within 14 days prior to your course.
Participants must be over the age of 18.
